About this project
In this project I study the effects of use of different inlet shapes on the performance of a centrifugal pump. A generic centrifugal pump was designed as the core for the analysis. It consists of a stator part, rotor and virtual rotating zone. The inlet section of the pump is extended and three shapes are investigated: straight intake, single 90 deg turn and double 90 deg turn. Keeping the operating conditions of the pump constant the investigation was focused on rotation driven flow (fluid motion is generated only by the pump). The comparison of difference in obtained flow rate and the observable differences in flow representation was presented.
