MED-T Workshop No. 1: In-Vivo Blood Flow
About this project
This project contains the basic simulation setup. The rest will be completed during the in-person session. Be sure you are able to run this file prior to our Workshop. Contact us at macmed.t@gmail.com with the subject line: 'MED-T W1 Inquiry_(YourName)' if you have any questions or concerns. MED-T does not take credit for the structure and instruction for this simulation. Here, MED-T takes responsibility for relaying the information covered as faithfully and truthfully as possible. This simulation is credited to Milad Mafi. It was designed as part 3 of a three-part webinar project. Webinar Project- Carotid Artery Bifurcation The project simulates the flow of blood as a non-newtonian fluid through a realistic Carotid Artery Bifurcation. Simulations are performed for 3 cases- of a healthy blood vessel with no calcification or blockage and through a moderately and severely calcified or blocked a blood vessel. The results show the differences in pressure, velocity profile and the outlet flow through the 2 branches. Flow conditions are based on a paper: STUDY OF BLOOD FLOW IN A BIFURCATION WITH A STENOSIS, Sonia I.S. Pinto, E.D. Costa, J.B.L.M. Campos, J.M. Miranda
